First Databank Updates COVID-19 Medical Supply Guide with More Than 1,300 of the Latest Products to Help in Fight Against Pandemic

As COVID-19 resurges, FDB continues to arm healthcare providers with trusted information for sourcing the newest test kits, PPE, and other critical supplies

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, December 2, 2020First Databank, Inc. (FDB), the leading provider of drug and medical device knowledge that helps healthcare professionals make precise decisions, announced today it is updating its COVID-19 Medical Supply Guide to feature new products that have become available, including SARS-CoV-2 test kits, personal protective equipment (PPE) and disinfectants. More than 1,300 new products across these categories have been added to the FDB COVID-19 Medical Supply Guide, which is available free of charge to healthcare providers.

“With the rapidly increasing number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations over the last few weeks, it’s clear that efforts must continue to help ensure hospitals and clinics have the critical supplies they need to care for COVID-19 patients while protecting clinicians and hospital staff,” said FDB President Bob Katter. “These supplies are critical now as we await final approval and distribution of promising new vaccines, and they will remain so even after these vaccines have been administered to a significant percentage of our citizens.”

Katter explained that it is also vital for healthcare organizations to be informed about the latest products to help in the fight against COVID-19 and where these items can be sourced.

“Our updated COVID-19 Medical Supply Guide makes this information readily accessible,” Katter said. “The guide also makes it easier for hospitals and other providers to identify new suppliers and to obtain the items they need when they need them most.”

The FDB COVID-19 Medical Supply Guide was launched in March 2020 near the beginning of the pandemic. It has since been accessed by hundreds of healthcare organizations.

Information presented in the guide is curated from the company’s FDB Prizm medical device knowledge platform and other available sources. It includes an extensive list of manufacturers and vendors of COVID-19-related supplies such as ventilators, N95 masks, gloves, and other PPE. Part numbers and unique device identifier (UDI) information from FDB’s Prizm platform are included, as well as each manufacturer’s contact information. FDB updates this information as new suppliers enter the market—including some non-traditional distributors that are participating to meet increased demand—and sends these updates to everyone who has requested the list.

Hospitals and other healthcare organizations may access this resource at no charge by completing and submitting the contact form at: https://www.fdbhealth.com/covid-19/covid-19-related-medical-device-information. The short form is for authentication purposes. FDB also launched dedicated COVID-19 drug resource pages on its website in April 2020 and continues to update this information for clinicians at https://fdbhealth.com/covid-19/covid-19-related-drug-information.

The FDB COVID-19 drug resource pages focus on medications currently being tested for use by clinicians to treat the virus. Information on these medications is provided through FDB’s MedKnowledge® and Meducation® solutions. The FDB COVID-19 drug resource pages also include FDB’s specialty drug content for healthcare professionals. This information is available to the general public to view and download at no cost or obligation.

Katter reiterated FDB’s commitment to supporting frontline healthcare workers, patients and consumers as the pandemic continues. “We thank all of the healthcare workers who have dedicated themselves to caring for patients, and who are continuing to put themselves and potentially their families at risk to serve,” he said. “While the pandemic continues to challenge the nation and the world, we will continue to make available to healthcare providers the medical supply information, clinical decision support, and patient education resources they need to care for their patients and save lives.”
