Bernoulli Health Builds on Recent Success
Enhanced capabilities, strategic partnerships, new customers, peer-reviewed studies, and industry recognition demonstrate Bernoulli’s strong impact in healthcare
Milford, CT – February 1, 2018 – Bernoulli Health, the developer of the advanced Bernoulli One™ clinical surveillance, medical device integration (MDI), and real-time data analytics platform, continues to gain traction in the healthcare IT market. Advancements to its product portfolio, new strategic partnerships, new customer wins, a peer-reviewed study in partnership with Virtua Health System (NJ), and leadership accolades have Bernoulli poised for continued success.
Company highlights for 2017 include:
Technological Enhancements
- In April, Bernoulli launched a revolutionary new application for the continuous monitoring of patients at risk of respiratory depression. Bernoulli’s Respiratory Depression Safety Surveillance (RDSS) solution utilizes comprehensive real-time data to help clinicians quickly recognize and respond to signs of respiratory distress. RDSS includes exclusive analytics with multi-variable thresholds to identify clinically actionable events while significantly reducing the overall number of alarms communicated to remote and mobile clinicians, mitigating the risk of alarm fatigue.
- · Integration of Bernoulli smart alarms and live waveforms to clinical communication and collaboration mobile applications including Voalte, PatientSafe, PerfectServe, and Spok were first demonstrated at the 2017 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition.
Strategic Partnership
Late in the year, Bernoulli announced collaboration with GE Healthcare on the new CARESCAPE Connect data aggregation solution. The CARESCAPE Connect vision is to unlock data to enable outcomes research. To facilitate that vision, GE Healthcare and Bernoulli Health began working together to increase volume, fidelity and resolution of data captured from GE Healthcare monitors and other 3[sup]rd[/sup] party medical devices; to build sources of data that are accessible to medical informaticists; and to enhance efficiency of data acquisition and storage into information repositories while lowering the barriers to integration.
Hospital Adoption
Studies[sup]1[/sup] prove that hospitals using advanced clinical surveillance will realize cost benefits including reduction in the deployment of rapid response teams and shorter hospital length of stay. Additionally, hospitals using Bernoulli for enterprise-wide clinical systems connectivity and those leveraging real-time data for clinical surveillance are experiencing better patient outcomes and staff satisfaction[sup]2[/sup]. Bernoulli helps to facilitate these results. For those reasons and more, customer adoption rates continued to rise for Bernoulli in 2017. A partial listing of healthcare provider organizations gained in 2017 include:
o Mercy Health Services Center (MD)
o Carolinas Health System (NC/SC)
o VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (PA)
o New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NC)
o Blythedale Children’s Hospital (NY)
o Virginia Hospital Center (VA)
o St. Peter’s Hospital (NY)
o Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center (NY)
o Regional Health (SD)
o University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (NV)
Peer-Reviewed Study
John Zaleski, PhD, CAP, CPHIMS, Chief Analytics Officer, and Jeanne Venella, DNP, MS, RN, CEN, CPEN, Chief Nursing Officer of Bernoulli, were among the co-authors of a study demonstrating the use of patented analytics, medical device connectivity and combinatorial alarms to provide remote centralized continuous monitoring of post-surgical patients at risk for opioid-induced respiratory depression (OIRD). The article, Continuous Surveillance of Sleep Apnea Patients in a Medical-Surgical Unit, was published in the May/June 2017 issue of Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology.
Industry Recognition
In the second quarter of the year, Janet Dillione, CEO of Bernoulli, was named one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s “Medtech Women to Know”. This is a prestigious recognition honoring select women in the healthcare field industry. This dynamic group of 110 women executives are sharing ideas and shaping the future of healthcare IT.
Bernoulli looks forward to an even stronger 2018. CEO, Janet Dillione, says, “More and more hospitals and health systems now recognize the potential for real-time clinical surveillance to improve patient safety and drive better outcomes across the continuum of care. Bernoulli is ready to help them achieve these goals in 2018 and beyond.”
