NAHAM Attendees: Learn Revenue Cycle Best Practices with Recondo
Company to demonstrate how enabling Epic with industry leading automated, accurate and actionable revenue cycle intelligence increases patient financial clearance and reduces denials
Greenwood Village, CO—April 24, 2017—Attendees at this week’s National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) annual conference in Dallas will be looking for industry best practices to lift hospital revenue without adding yet another “bolt-on.” To help, Recondo Technology (NAHAM booth #413), the market leader in cloud-based single-platform revenue cycle management solutions, will demonstrate for attendees how to seamlessly integrate payer intelligence for prior authorizations, patient eligibility, claim status and patient estimates directly into Epic Systems and other HIS revenue cycle and patient access workflow solutions.
“Patient access departments are under growing pressure to help patients successfully manage their increasing financial responsibility for care,” said Heather Kawamoto, Recondo’s vice president of product management. “We look forward to showing NAHAM attendees how they can achieve that goal directly within Epic and other systems they already use while lessening the manual administrative burden to generate accurate estimates, obtain prior authorizations and other revenue cycle management activities.”
Enriching existing Epic workflows with payer data
Recondo is a trail blazer in this niche, having built one of the industry’s first benefits intelligence feeds into Epic Benefits Collector. The seamless integration injects built-in logic that automatically matches procedures with the right service type codes, giving patient access departments the needed level of detail to produce accurate patient estimates. At St. Louis-based Mercy Health System, the capability increased point-of-service collections by 12 percent through substantially improved patient estimate accuracy and increased staff efficiency.
Similarly, Recondo can integrate payer intelligence into Epic to deliver enriched and actionable claims status, including reasons for partial denials; patient eligibility for services and procedures based on the patient’s real-time coverage levels and benefits used to date; and also whether the services and procedures require prior authorization from payers—information that hospitals are increasingly required to obtain on their own.
Automating end-to-end authorization management
More hospitals now routinely take on the responsibility of obtaining prior authorizations from payers on behalf of both employed and non-employed physicians. Given the pace at which payers introduce and revise authorization requirements and rules, this places a tremendous burden on the patient access department. Recondo eliminates much of this manual work with the industry’s most comprehensive automation strategy for handling large volumes of prior authorizations.
Specifically, Recondo’s patented ReconBots™ technology logs in to the payer’s website on behalf of the provider, using the provider’s credentials. Then Recondo’s rules-based engine, which draws on the industry’s most robust authorization rules library of over 700,000 rules, retrieves and auto-populates the answers back into Epic or other HIS workflow systems.
Recondo can perform similar industry leading automation to obtain claim status, eligibility/benefits and patient estimates, again routing this enriched payer data into hospital revenue cycle workflow systems.
