Fortified Health Security Releases 2019 Mid Year Horizon Report

Fortified Health Security, a leader in cybersecurity, compliance and managed services, partnering exclusively with healthcare organizations to overcome operational and regulatory challenges, released its 2019 Mid-Year Horizon Report.

The report examines the current state of cybersecurity in healthcare with data on reported breaches and observed threats during the first half of the year. Additionally, the report explores how cyber incidents might evolve over the next six months. Based on interviews with industry experts, research using primary and secondary open-source materials, and Fortified’s own leadership perspective, the 2019 Mid Year Horizon Report highlights:
·      the frequency of cyber attacks is on pace to surpass previous years with a 15% increase over 2018
·      hacking continues as the leading cause of incidences; and
·      the need for advanced, peer-based comparative analytics.

“Demonstrating how your cybersecurity program has strengthened over time, based on investments made, is critical for ongoing, system-wide support,” said Dan L. Dodson, president of Fortified Health Security.

Organizations must develop and execute security fundamentals first, before exploring advanced solutions.   Penetration testing has proven to be a valuable tool in executing these fundamentals.  Fortified provides advice to better prepare your organization for a penetration test to maximize the value and eliminate any unnecessary burden.

With email continuing to be the most common attack vector, this report examines the challenges of Microsoft Office 365 and the importance of finding the right specialized provider to properly operationalize and extract the full protection and value post deployment.

“It is critical that healthcare organizations continue to allocate capital towards cybersecurity in order to protect and provide valuable patient care,” said Dodson. “As IT leaders, it is equally vital for you to measure the progress of your cybersecurity program over time and provide meaningful data to your colleagues and leadership, attesting to the value of your cybersecurity investments and inspiring momentum within your organization.”
