TOPIC:
Oxytocin,a drug that stimulates uterine contractions, is used in more than half of U.S. births to induce or augment labor. Although often administered without incident, in a small percentage of cases it can lead to increased risk to the baby, creating a need to monitor Oxytocin administration vigilantly.

Simple,paper-based or PDF protocols and checklists have historically been used to manage administration and management of oxytocin for labor induction. But that is the case no longer. Dr. Hamilton presents the results of her extensive research on the effects of using electronic fetal monitoring to improve oxytocin administration for labor induction. She will also introduce a new PeriGen tool that adds an electronic oxytocin checklist capability to PeriCALM®
Patterns™
