Position Summary
The Databases Administrator is responsible for effectively administer, test, and implement computer database information as it pertains to our infrastructure. Database Administrators apply knowledge of database systems and coordinate changes to computer databases. Database Administrators may coordinate, plan, and implement new security measures to safeguard our computer database.

Primary Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations:
  • Monitor and provide technical support   
  • Create or update database documentation for maintenance and problem resolution
  • See audits as chances for improvements
  • Establish or update disaster recovery or business continuity protocols for databases
    • Encryption end-to-end preferred
  • Provide steller end-user support by debugging issues
  • Fine tune and optimize database objects
  • Security; meet or exceed compliance requirements
  • Reliability; make sure our customer, both internal and external, can perform their work without interruption
  • Supportable; ensure our team is cross-trained and understand how systems work
  • Candidates must be able to obtain a government security clearance, which includes passing a rigorous background check and being a U.S. citizen.
Experience: 
  • 2+ years’ successful network troubleshooting experience
  • Strong SQL language knowledge
  • Hands-on experience with most of the following: MSSQL, MongoDB, Postgres, MySQL/MariaDB
    • AWS + RDS preferred
    • Aurora, DynamoDB, Elasticache preferred
  • Familiarity with web-based technologies, including but not limited to, reverse proxy servers, SSL certificate configuration, three-tier architecture, service-oriented architecture, enterprise service bus, http, and differences between browsers.
  • Hands on experience in networking, routing, switching firewalls/access control lists and configuration of VPN appliances.
  • Installed some type of SQL/NoSQL and supported it through production
Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required.
