GetWellNetwork CEO to Present ‘Greater Than the Diagnosis’ at GI Roundtable

BETHESDA, Md., March 7, 2018 – GetWellNetwork[sup]®[/sup], Inc., the Precision Engagement™ health care company, announced today that its founder and CEO, Michael O’Neil, will speak on March 17 at the GI Roundtable, the annual health policy and practice management conference for GI physician leaders and practice administrators, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. O’Neil will lead the session “Greater Than the Diagnosis” from 1:50-2:30 p.m. and will participate in the ensuing panel discussion (2:30-3:00 p.m.) titled “The Five-Star Practice – How Are You Getting to ‘Wow!’ With Your Patients?”

In his presentation, O’Neil will share his personal patient story that led to launching GetWellNetwork, and his role today in shaping the future of patient-centered care. The session will explore innovative ways to tailor interventions, educate patients and adapt communications styles to the characteristics and preferences of individual patients at a time when value-based care requires GI practices to deliver a more collaborative patient and family experience. And, he will share current work underway to collaborate with leading physicians and healthcare providers around the world on creating personalized, digital care tools for their practices and patients.

“Today, we are living in a consumer-driven world where the digitization and personalization of products and services is expected ” O’Neil said in advance of the GI Roundtable session. “For physicians, there is a unique opportunity to stay connected more effectively with their patients on-the-go to ease their stress and fears, reduce costly cancellations and delays, prevent complications and readmissions, and support fast-track protocols. I am excited to share some of our life work and find innovative physician partners aiming to deliver next-generation patient care.”

O’Neil also noted that the carefully tailored use of mobile solutions that include education, alerts and communication tools can help gastroenterologists achieve higher value-based reimbursement under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA). If a GI specialist is in the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), one of MACRA’s two tracks, using a precision patient engagement solution can help the provider achieve higher quality scores, meet a practice improvement requirement, and satisfy several Advancing Care Information criteria.
