More than 140,000U.S. births now supported by electronic fetal monitoring and surveillance technology

CRANBURY, N.J. ─ January 19, 2015 PeriGen, the global leader in applying real-time clinical decision support to obstetricssystems, announced today it doubled the number of U.S. hospital and health systems that use PeriCALM[sup]®[/sup]’ fetal surveillance solutions in 2014. The totalnumber of estimated births supported by the PeriCALM Tracings™ module is now 140,032.

“Last year was tremendous in terms of developmentand growth for us,” said PeriGen CEO Matthew Sappern. “The fact that we were able to double our client base in 2014 is a testament both to the efficacy of PeriCALM’s evidence-based technology and our employees’ ability to work with L&D departments and hospital leadership to raise the bar on quality of care for mothers and babies. With the great foundation we now have, 2015 should be even more exciting.”

OB physicians and nurses working inlabor and delivery (L&D) departments nationwide use the PeriCALM suite of advanced fetal monitoring software to deliver healthier babies and reduce the risk of errors. Its patented modules include:
§  PeriCALM Tracings offers advanced electronic fetalmonitoring (EFM) surveillance and archiving with annotation on the strip, evidence-based analysis at bedside, and simultaneous viewing of current fetal heart rate and labor progress, as well a view of two hours of data.
§  Independentlyvalidated by researchers at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), PeriCALM Patterns™ augments the power of Tracingswith automated pattern recognition to provide upgraded decision support.
§  PeriCALM Curve™ provides evidence-based laborprogress assessment.

Among the hospitals and health systemsinvesting in PeriCALM are: University of Utah Hospital, a research and teaching hospitalon the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City; JFK Medical Center, a non-profit, 498-bedcommunity hospital serving residents of Middlesex, Union and Somerset counties in Central New Jersey; TerrebonneGeneral Medical Center, the largest community-based hospital in the tri-parish area of Terrebonne,Lafourche and St. Mary parishes ofLouisiana; and Baptist Health Systems serving patients in Mississippi.

The system allows OB clinicians to better focus on the mothers and babies in their care by taking care of what computers do best -- assessing fetal heart rate patterns, variations and prolonged laborprogression to increase situational awareness and minimize adverse conditions. PeriCALM also interfaces with all major acuteelectronic medical record systems.
