The Queen’s Health Systems Taps Recondo Technology to
Automate Claim Status and Drive Follow-up Workflow
Joins over 300 US hospitals that are replacing manual claim status processes with Recondo’s performance-boosting web-bot technology and claims workflow integration solution

Greenwood Village, CO--May 31, 2017 – Recondo Technology, the market leader in cloud-based automated revenue cycle management solutions, is pleased to announce The Queen’s Health Systems is the latest provider organization to modernize its claim status and remediation processes with Recondo’s ClaimStatusPlus™. The Queen’s Health Systems will integrate ClaimStatusPlus with Epic to utilize rich payer intelligence driving workflows used every day by business office staff. The health system joins hundreds of providers around the country who use ClaimStatusPlus to accelerate the claim cycle and prevent the potential loss of millions of dollars a year in revenue.
Lehua Pate, Director, Corporate Revenue Cycle for The Queen’s Health Systems had this to say about the solution: “In the current healthcare climate of increasing costs and decreasing government reimbursement, automating processes that improve financial performance is a must. We selected Recondo’s ClaimStatusPlus solution to integrate directly to our current Epic workflow and provide staff with the information they need to solve problems, reduce write-offs and accelerate reimbursement.”
Pate continued, “By automating the process of obtaining detailed status information from payer websites and then integrating that information to drive workflow in Epic, my staff can concentrate on resolving issues rather than spending unnecessary time on the phone trying to obtain claims status from our myriad of payers. We are looking to ClaimStatusPlus to make staff more efficient, decrease response time on denials and requests, and thereby, improve overall financial performance.”
By adding The Queen’s Health Systems to its growing list of ClaimStatusPlus customers, Recondo has surpassed a claim status volume of 2.5 million web-sourced claim status transactions per month, in addition to the over 10 million monthly transactions processed for customers of its Patient Access Suite.  The industry leading ClaimStatusPlus serves some of the nation’s largest healthcare providers via integrations into systems such as Epic, Meditech, Cerner/Soarian, Ontario Systems/Artiva, Huron Consulting, GE/Centricity, HMS, and many others.
“We are excited to welcome The Queen’s Health Systems to our family of customers that are truly breaking through a stagnant ‘claim status quo’ to get paid faster and in full. We look forward to helping the health system experience a significant revenue boost very soon with our professional services-led implementation and integration with Epic,” said Jay Deady, CEO of Recondo Technology.

Revitalizing the hospital revenue cycle
The average hospital processes tens of thousands of claims a month without knowing ahead of time which claims will go through smoothly and which will require further work. This chronic uncertainty is a chief factor driving lengthy A/R days, reduced payments, and outright denials of claims. ClaimStatusPlus brings clarity, accuracy, and speed to claim status and remediation by retrieving answers on claim status directly from the payer’s website.
These answers are then routed to the appropriate systems and staff, with minimal human intervention required except for the small percentage of claims that require further attention. Here staff is aided with Recondo intelligence that provides the critical insight into the actual reason a claim has been denied or deemed incomplete. The result: problem claims are prioritized for focused attention and claims that will adjudicate without intervention are removed from the workflow to avoid unnecessary work.
ClaimStatusPlus automates the process of retrieving claim status intelligence from hundreds of payers, including Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicaid and Managed Plans, and commercial payers of all size and type well in advance of adjudicated remits. The solution is powered by Recondo’s patented Reconbot® web bot technology plus robust rules-based engines that leverage machine learning to query payer websites for critical revenue cycle information.

About The Queen’s Health Systems
The Queen’s Medical Center is the first hospital in the United States founded by royalty. It was established in 1859 by Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV to address the health care needs of the people of Hawaii during a time when epidemics were sweeping the islands. Queen Emma and King Kamehameha went door-to-door to personally raise money to build the hospital, which was named The Queen’s Hospital. Through this effort, the couple was able to open a temporary structure in 1859, and a year later, opened a two-story facility, which was built on the present site.

Today, The Queen’s Health Systems is a nonprofit family of hospitals and health-related entities. Established in 1985, the system provides expanded health care services and programs to the people of Hawaii and the Pacific Basin.
From health care firsts that we were privileged to lead, to the innovative services we provide, to the significant local and national partnerships we helped forge, caring for Hawaii is at the heart of what we do. It’s both our legacy and our future.
