TransformativeMed and King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre Form Multilayer Partnership to Accelerate Specialty Workflows Kingdom-Wide

Fast-growing, HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence-winning tertiary health system to collaborate on developing new Cores apps and offer the solutions to other health systems

SEATTLE and RIYADH, March 3, 2020TransformativeMed, which transforms electronic health records (EHRs) with directly embedded apps, announced today a partnership with King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC), a leading tertiary health system in Saudi Arabia, to improve EHR workflow efficiency and care quality among its many world-class medical specialties and collaborate on custom solutions for other disease areas. This is the first international partnership for TransformativeMed.

KFSH&RC was the first specialist hospital in the Gulf Region when it opened in 1975. The 1,600-bed integrated healthcare organization is now comprised of three facilities in Riyadh, Jeddah and Madinah, offering the most-advanced tertiary, quaternary and referral medical services throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Recognized internationally for its world-class facilities, latest medical technology and equipment, skilled and experienced physicians and providers, and high-quality patient care, KFSH&RC Centers of Excellence include its Heart Centre, The Oncology Centre (Adult), Organ Transplant, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Neurosciences and Medical Genetics.

KFSH&RC will implement TransformativeMed’s full suite of embedded EHR apps: Core Work Manager App, Core Work Manager Mobile App, Core Messaging App, Core Notify App and Core Diabetes App. As the partnership expands, TransformativeMed will collaborate with KFSH&RC on developing new specialty apps for thrombolytics, oncology, congestive heart failure and others. KFSH&RC’s business subsidiary will also assist other health systems in the Kingdom in implementing TransformativeMed’s Core solutions at their organization.

“We believe that the broad and effective use of health IT by our physicians and other providers is imperative to our patient care, research and financial success, a dedication we have demonstrated throughout our history,” said KSFH&RC Chief Information Officer Osama Alswailem, MD, MA. “Our partnership with TransformativeMed will help us continue that legacy while also supporting other healthcare organizations throughout the Kingdom in achieving KSA Vision 2030 and their respective clinical objectives through these EHR optimization solutions.”

KFSH&RC recently received the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Davies Award of Excellence for a smart room design (one of three case studies presented) in its King Abdulla Center Oncology and Liver Disease (KACOLD) building that includes full EHR integration, bedside medical devices, and other high-tech tools to support patient engagement and personal care education. The HIMSS Davies Award recognizes outstanding achievements of organizations that have utilized health IT to substantially improve patient outcomes through sharing evidence-driven best practices on implementation strategies, workflow design, change management and patient engagement.

The organization has also achieved Stage 7 of HIMSS Analytics Outpatient Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (O-EMRAM) through Family Medicine Riyadh and Jeddah. Stage 7 is the highest accreditation for the best utilization of health IT in healthcare.

“We are always searching the globe for effective health IT solutions that help our physicians and other providers practice more efficiently and support world-class patient care delivery,” said Abdullah Alturki, MD, Chief Medical Information Officer for KSFH&RC. “TransformativeMed is far and away the best EHR optimization solution we have experienced. They clearly understand how physicians of all specialties are empowered to be most productive and have designed a solution that allows us to quickly extract, evaluate, document and take action on data from multiple sources.”

The partnership will also help KSFH&RC contribute to Saudi Vision 2030, a 10-year economic development initiative to diversify the Kingdom’s economy and stimulate more private sector growth, including healthcare. KSFH&RC will be one of the first organizations to partner with the government to become a self-sustainable, not-for-profit independent foundation.

“Health systems worldwide are eager to streamline their EHR workflows while improving their physicians' experience and patient outcomes, so we see this synergistic partnership with this highly respected healthcare delivery and research organization as just the beginning for us,” said Doug Cusick, CEO at TransformativeMed. “The fact that King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre is also such an established worldwide leader in adopting and operationalizing leading health IT solutions within its enterprise truly makes it doubly an honor.”
